Musical odes to magic

People are inspired to write songs by all sorts of things. Love and relationships, automobiles, locations... but a magic trick?

After finishing our show "Short Guys With Glasses" this past Saturday, Tomas was approached by a man who had seen him before. About 10 years ago, in fact, where Tomas performed The Tic Tac Trick - wherein Tomas shoves 3 Tic Tacs into different facial orifaces and procedes to cough them up (you can find the method to this madness on Tomas' Geek Magic DVD).

Anyway, this incident 10 years ago inspired the man, who was part of a band at the time, to pen a ditty about Tomas' performance.

So here it is, ladies and gentlemen: Download The Tic Tac Trick mp3.

This tune opens the door for all sorts of songs about magic tricks. I can hear it now..."it's the egg bag trick...it's the egg bag trick"...

String Them Along!

As John mentioned in yesterday's blog, I am involved with two more Royal magic DVD projects.
The Card Magic Essentials DVD is very good. For the price, it's going to have a lot of great information. Usually on beginner videos/dvds, the material is rather basic. No "cool" moves are taught.
This DVD has Elmsley Counts, Double Lifts, Controls, Forces, and even shuffles. Wish this was around when I got started. Also, I am very proud of my AT THE TABLE DVD. No, it's not as zany as my Geek Magic release, but it's still fun to watch. It's a great collection of impromptu magic. No throw away material here.... all good stuff! Oh, and a customer of mine was surprised to learn I was the magician on ROYAL's Amazing Tricks With Rope DVD. Many customers really enjoy this DVD. It features a slew of effects! Even how to make a stiff rope gimmick! Plus it's priced very nice. I always do well with it when I lecture. For years I have been watching instructional magic videos/dvds, I still can't believe I'm making them myself!

Delightfully Creepy Halloween Magic!

From private parties to pumpkin patches, magicians generally work a variety of engagements during the Halloween season. I'm sure many of our customers are being asked for delightfully creepy Halloween themed magic tricks. Here are some of my favorites:
1. Made popular by Harry Anderson, the Needle Thru Arm is a must have for gore loving fans. Looks so real, but thank goodness it's not!
2. Andrew Mayne has been very popular in the past number of years. His products are always fresh and hip. FUN carries his ARMBUSTER booklet. This is a clever method of gimmicking an ordinary power drill to apparently pass through your arm. A very
convincing illusion.
3. A reasonably priced SWORD THRU NECK! Magically push a 23 inch sword through the frame and the spectator's neck. Spectators see the sword pass through the middle of the stock and come out the other side. A classic!
4. Take a look at the SWORD THRU FINGER. This is a mini version of the SWORD THRU NECK. The perfect Halloween giveaway! Super inexpensive. Halloween is a FUN time of the year. If you need any other suggestions, please give us a call!

More Celebracadabra News!

So last week Mr. Hal Sparks performed my Booger Restoration trick from Geek Magic.
I wrote an email to Hal and he responded! He wrote back, saying."I credited you when we were taping but I don't know if they aired that part. Did they? I dig your DVD, brother. Nice work." My trick didn't air, but was available only on the VH1 website as a deleted scene. Still, I'm flattered he chose to watch my DVD.

Then, Lisa Ann Walter performed another trick from Geek Magic on this week's episode - the balloon swallow! The trick isn't original with me, but still... you can learn it off the DVD. She did a great job!

Celebracadabra has been fun to watch, and especially fun to see which tricks the coaches pick. Many of them can be purchased at any magic shop. For example:
Television magic specials are great for shops and magic in general. Hopefully this series will encourage viewers to visit their local shop!

FUN Inc. on Celebracadabra

As I was viewing the online extras for Celebracadabra (I get to call it research...for work), I came upon Hal Sparks, dressed as a wizard, performing for a group of school children. Imagine my surprise when he mentioned a trick he saw a "Chicago magician" do called the Booger Restoration.

Well, wonder no more! That Chicago magician is FUN's very own Tomas Medina, and you can find the Booger Restoration on Tomas' Geek Magic DVD. If it's good enough for Hal and his coach, Rocco, it's good enough for you!

Shameless self promotion

Just the other day a shop owner commented that he really enjoyed our Amazing Magic with Rope DVD. Don't be fooled. Yes, it's an inexpensive DVD, but the material is strong. There are many routines taught. Including a professor's nightmare and several cut & restored effects. In fact, I'm the magician on the DVD! Although my name is no where near the cover art, I AM the guy on there. Needless to say, I think I impressed him.

Actually, I am on 5 FUN Inc. instructional DVDS.
My first release was the Rope DVD, then FUN was interested in my Cardiologist Deck.

Ever see this trick? We've sold thousands. It's my favorite trick. Personally, I think of the Cardiologist Deck as an act and not a trick. You can do a whole 10 minute bit to this thing. I also developed many effects with David Goring's Exchange. We've sold thousands of these as well. The gimmick is super deviant. I always sell out of these in my lectures.

Oh, and many people recognize my name from the Geek Magic DVD. Yes, I was part of a side show troop. This DVD is fun to watch and the tricks are all workers. It's basically my act for sale.

I'm the magician on the McDonald's Aces DVD. I incorporated many different productions/moves to the famous card routine. The DVD is also fun to watch and there are plenty of fantastic sleights taught. Serious card nerds will love this release.

There you go. Five DVD releases in 3 years. Not sure how I found the time....probably magic!
